Weight=184.6 pounds, Steps=15,272

Today, we went to Hilo and Gyongyi did some errands while I did a six mile walk from Richardson Ocean Park to downtown Hilo.   There are several ocean side parks along the way, Hawaiian homelands, car dealerships, a ferry dock (Mattson), an industrial zone (gasoline refining), the cruise ship dock, 'hotel row," the small boat basin, Suisan fish market, canoe club row, and the downtown, water front.

I bought a Sig Zane aloha shirt after my walk.  It seems Japanese visitors like this store quite a bit.

Hilo has a unique place for traditional Hawaiian garb but the prices are not for the faint of heart. Excellent materials, great designs and the staff help/customer service is outstanding. The store is tucked in among a row of trinket shops along the front row of old town Hilo next to the Tsunami Museum.

Sig Zane Designs, a Hilo-based couturier, offers pricey but high quality Hawaiian shirts and dresses at his Hilo downtown store. It's not the typical clothing brand that one finds in ABC stores that emphasizes money over quality. Zane's designs try to keep it local and subdued with the emphasis on the culture.  Every product reflects the island's legacy.

The Aloha shirts are pre-shrunk and long lasting. Design and craftsmanship are meticulous.  They are designed in Zane's shop above the store, silk screened and sewn in Oahu.
